Abstract |
This study was conducted to assess current environmental impacts, and to define potential control technology that will minimize the pollution resulting from coal transfer/terminal operations. Environmental impacts from coal transfer/terminal operations can be lessened by employing proper control methods, which should be incorporated into the early states of planning and design. Coal transfer is an expanding technology, and the construction, operation, and closure/abandoment of new transfer facilities should be monitored and reported. In addition, experiences related to the transfer of western coals should be monitored and reported, since a limited amount of experience has been reported on the handling of these coals. |
