Abstract | The development of mathematical models of sorptive processes affecting pollutant fate in aquatic systems is reviewed. The review discusses research on equilibrium sorption (partition coefficient), soil and sediment sorption of uncharged organics (dependence on organic carbon), estimation of fugacity coefficient ratio (K), hydrophobic sorption, sorption to microorganisms and dissolved humics, non-hydrophobic bonding, sorption kinetics and bioconcentration. |
