Abstract |
In early 1997, the Innovative Treatment Remediation Demonstration (ITRD) Program conducted a pilot study at the Pinellas STAR Center's Northeast Site to treat chlorinated volatile organic compounds (VOC) using in situ anaerobic bioremediation. The two primary objectives of this pilot study were to (1) evaluate the use of nutrient injection to enhance in situ anaerobic biological degradation of chlorinated VOCs in areas of moderate contaminant concentrations and (2) obtain operating and performance data to optimize the design and operation of a full-scale system. |
