Abstract |
The physical oceanographic study of the Massachusetts Bays was designed to provide for the first time a bay-wide description of the circulation and mixing processes on a seasonal basis. Most of the measurements were conducted between April 1990 and June 1991 and consisted of moored observations to study the current flow patterns, hydrographic surveys to document the changes in water properties, high-resolution surveys of velocity and water properties to measure the currents, and acquisition of satellite images to provide a bay-wide picture of the surface temperature and its spatial variability. |
