Abstract | The areal distribution of ground water quality characteristics of Alaska were examined through the rural domestic water users appraisal of the water and a selected number of chemical analyses. Survey forms were distributed to 6015 rural residents with a 20.9% return. The results are presented in data form and by maps indicating well depths, iron, color, taste and odor problems, and the locations where softeners and filter were reported in use. Chemical analyses for alkalinity, electrical conductivity, Ca, Mg, Fe, Mn, NO2(-) + NO3(=), and color were run on 83 ground water samples in a selected area. Information was collected on an additional 23 wells. |
