| Abstract | The decision document presents the modifications to the remedial action for treating contaminated sludge, soil and ground water at the UPRR Sludge Pit site in Pocatello, Idaho. The primary purpose of this amendment to the Record of Decision (Amended ROD) is to eliminate three components of the selected remedy which are no longer necessary to protect human health and the environment. The three components to be eliminated are: treatment of soil and ground water via in-situ soil flushing; utilization of dissolved air flotation as part of the ground-water pretreatment system; and construction of a permanent, six-foot-high chain link fense around the entire sludge pit following completion of remedial activities. |
