The purpose of the National Priorities List (NPL) under the Superfund program is to identify sites where releases of hazardous substances or pollutants and contaminants are priorities for further evaluation. This fact sheet is intended to answer some common questions on the definition of an NPL site. Subjects covered in this fact sheet include: NPL site boundaries, the way sites are delineated, and the way site boundaries change over time.
