Abstract | The article is a technical commentary relating to the article, 'An Advection-Diffusion Concept for Solute Transport in Heterogenous Unconsolidated Geological Deposits,' by Gillham, et al, Water Resources Research 20(3):369-378, 1984. The authors principal comments relate to the confusion which has developed in ground water dispersion literature because of the failure to consider properly the two and three dimensional aspects of heterogenous advection and transverse diffusion or the transport of conservative solutes in layered unconsolidated geological deposits.
