Abstract | SRI conducted in vitro microbiological mutagenicity experiments on four chemicals for E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Co. The chemicals were identified to us as 9008, 9221, 9222, and 9223. Assays were conducted with four strains of Salmonella (TA1535, TA1537, TA1538, and TA100) and with Saccharomyces cerevisiae DS. All assays were conducted in the presence and in the absence of a phenobarbitol-stimulated rat-liver homogenate metabolic activation system. Three of the chemicals, 9008, 9221, and 9222, were mutagenic in assays with S. typhimurium TA1538 but were not mutagenic with the other S. Typhimurium strains. None of the chemicals were mutagenic in the S. cerevisiae D3 assays. |
