Abstract | This report developed a conceptual ecosystem model, both pictorial and narrative, of the Corpus Christi Bay National Estuary Program (CCBNEP) study area. The model demonstrates ecosystem linkages at all trophic levels and substrate types, and provides a conceptual framework with which to assess ecological and environmental impacts (both episodic and cumulative) associated with external influences. The model is based on current scientific consensus regarding the modeling of estuarine ecosystem components, and data and information regarding these relationships within the study area. The model was developed to two levels of detail: (1) a detailed model suitable for the scientific and technical community; and, (2) a simple model suitable for use in CCBNEP public documents and management conference deliberations. |
