Abstract
The documents provide the owner or operator with guidance on conducting a RCRA Facility Investigation. Based on release determinations made by the regulatory agency (generally resulting from the RFA), the owner or operator of a facility will be notified, through an enforcement order or permit conditions, of those unit(s) and releases (known or suspected) which must be further investigated. The guidance is divided into 15 sections presented in four volumes. Vol. I presents recommended procedures to follow in developing a work plan for conducting the investigation. Volumes II and III describe specific methods for characterizing the nature, extent, and rate of contaminant release to soil, ground water, subsurface gas, air and surface water. Volume IV presents a number of case studies selected to illustrate concepts and procedures presented in Volumes I, II, and III.
