Abstract |
A laboratory manual of radiochemical procedures has been compiled and edited for use in the analysis of specific radionuclides in drinking water--nuclides for which the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency has recommended maximum contaminant levels in its Interim Drinking Water Regulations. In addition to gross activity analyses, the procedures for 134/137Cs, 131I, 226/228Ra, 89/90Sr, 3H and 40K were evaluated by replicate testing to determine the method capabilities and minimum detection levels. The results, which indicate that the sensitivity of these procedures is greater than the present required limits, are given in the Appendix. Also appended is information on reagent preparation and suggested sources for purchasing special equipment. |
