Abstract |
The industrial wastewater profile covers the Paper Industry and Integrated pulp and paper mills in the United States as defined by Standard Industrial Classification 2621 (except buildings) of the U. S. Department of Commerce. The principal areas of discussion are: the fundamental manufacturing processes and significant water and gaseous wastes generated by each operation, process water use and reuse, waste quantities and characteristics, waste reduction practices (including both waste treatment and in-plant processing) and their effectiveness, and waste treatment costs. Projections or estimates have been made for the changes, developments, and operating practices that will be prevalent in 1977 for each area of discussion. (Author) |
