Abstract | The compilation of water quality data collected during the 27-month period of intensive study (July 1960 through September 1962) of the Arkansas-Red River Basins, is summarized. These data were gathered to provide a basis for (1) location and definition of the significant natural and manmade sources of salt (mineral) pollution, and (2) determination of the effects of these sources on the quality of water in the receiving streams. The intensive investigation of water quality and natural sources of mineral pollution was limited to the central portions of both basins, the area in which major salt sources exists, and mineral pollution is most severe.
