Abstract
In accordance with the requirements of Section 8(d) of the Toxic Substances Control Act, and the regulation promulgated thereunder, the enclosed health and safety studies and lists of studies are submitted on behalf of Monsanto Company. The enclosures represent the efforts of a number of Monsanto Company personnel to interpret and comply with the regulation. As you know, while some provisions in the regulation are quite clear, other provisions have been difficult to interpret in specific situations. In some instances, general guidance was obtained from EPA, but in several specific situations, the guidance still was unclear. This submission includes health and safety studies for 52 specific chemical substances or mixtures. Table 1 enclosed lists the substances and the CAS numbers where known for the health and safety studies included herein. Copies of the health and safety studies are indexed per the listing on Table 1. Attached to Table 1 and also included with the copies of the studies is a listing, on Form F/1, of the specific studies submitted for each substance.
