Abstract | During this month the effort towards determining waste locations and quantities was continued. Preliminary estimates for major classes of hazardous waste materials designated as candidates for National Disposal Sites were prepared in recognition of the early requirements of the Feasibility Study. The emphasis of this effort was placed on the inorganic compounds and pesticides, data for the organic compounds being much less available. Data has been tabulated for the pesticides (herbicides, insecticides and fungicides), arsenic and its compounds, mercury and its compounds, cadmium and its compounds, and lead and its compounds. For the most part these estimates are incomplete and should, therefore, be assigned a large uncertainty, i.e., a factor of 1/2 on the low side and as high as 3 on the high side. |
