Abstract | The paper discusses state-of-the-art flue gas cleaning technologies for municipal solid waste (MSW) combustion. The control of air pollutants from the combustion has evolved from none or only particulate control to current systems controlling acid gases, trace organics, trace heavy metals, and nitrogen oxides, as well as particulate matter. Both in-furnace and post-combustion control methods for limiting one or more of these pollutants are discussed. Test results for various control technologies are reported. Recent control technology applications and trends are noted. |
