Abstract
The objectives of the report are to identify and examine existing control authorities concerning the use and disposal of nondegradable plastics in the marine environment and prepare a report that provides: A summary of existing data on the means, nature and extent of damage to the marine environment from the use and disposal of nondegradable plastics. Expert identification and review of all U.S. and international treaties and authorities applicable to the use and disposal of nondegradable plastics in the marine environment. Expert identification and review of current and future program plans of international, rational, state and local entities as they respond to the use and disposal of nondegradable plastics in the marine environment.
