Abstract
Important ores and minerals found in the upper Salmon River drainage basin of central Idaho are listed along with the mining history of each, and amounts of ore and approximate market values were known. A large, important table includes import-export data, consumption, and stockpile information for 29 minerals and ores. Another table evaluates effects of various modern mining methods upon the environment. Fifteen full-page maps of the state of Idaho pinpoint mineral locations and geological formations. A very significant amount of mineral resources lies within the drainage basin under study, and the value of these resources should be considered when drafting regulations governing the use of wild rivers areas.
