Abstract |
Under this project, new ion-selective electrodes were developed for several ions not previously accessible to electrode measurement. In addition, new electrode configurations were constructed and evaluated in terms of suitability for monitoring purposes. The ions include sulfate and carbonate. Specifically, a liquid membrane electrode for carbonate and a solid membrane electrode for sulfate were devised. The properties of these electrodes were evaluated and found to be useful for measurements in water systems. Both micro and flow-through electrodes for a number of ions were constructed and tested. Particular success in this connection was achieved for sensors responsive to the halide and heavy metal ions. Electrodes were applied to the measurement of NTA in waters and the study of ion association. |
