Abstract
This collection of Status Reports (initial evaluations) was prepared by scientists in the EPA Office of Pesticides and Toxic Substances (OPTS) on submissions received between January 1, 1977 and June 30, 1979 from chemical manufacturers, processors, and distributors under Section 8(e) of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). The volume is being published for two reasons. First, the collection of status reports in a single volume will make that information more accessible to the public. Second, the volume may, by providing specific examples of submitted information and EPA's evaluation of it, help anyone subject to Section 8(e) to understand better the types of information that should be submitted to the Agency. To date, no information submitted under Section 8(e) has resulted in immediate regulatory action under TSCA or any other act, although some submitted information has triggered further data gathering and evaluation that may lead to proposal of regulations in the future.
