Abstract | The paper has as its purpose a definition of the salinity problem, the enunciation of a proposed Environmental Protection Agency policy for control of salinity from irrigated agriculture, and a recommended course of action to implement those portions of the Federal Water Pollution Control Act (PL 92-500) pertinent to this problem. The water quality problems associated with irrigation return flows are of special concern because irrigated agriculture is the largest consumer of water resources. |
