Abstract |
This edition replaces the fourth edition and its three supplements. Chapters 1 and 2 contain general information that applies to the entire Manual. Each of Chapters 3 through 10 covers a category of 'add-on' air pollution control devices or control device auxiliary equipment. These categories are: thermal and catalytic incinerators, carbon adsorbers, fabric filters, electrostatic percipitators, flares, refrigerated condensers, gas absorbers, and hoods, ductwork, and stacks. Each of these eight self-contained chapters discusses: (1) the types and applications of these devices used in air pollution control; (2) the theory underlying their design and operation; (3) basic sizing (design) procedures; (4) data and procedures for estimating study-level (plus or minus 30 percent-accurate) capital and annual costs; and (5) a comprehensive example problem that illustrates the application of the sizing and costing procedures. |
