This publication reports on the literature findings for the chemistry of superoxide ion radical; it relates the methods of preparation, and its detection and reactions with chloroaromatics. The literature findings on the destruction of PCBs, etc., with polyethlene glycol are examined; and the role of polyethylene glycol as a phase transfer agent in a basic medium and as a nucleophilic agent is discussed. In addition, a reaction mechanism for the BCD process of the EPA is given. Effects of various reaction parameters are noted. Fianlly, assessments of various processes are given.
