Abstract
The report documents the risk communication experience of three agencies. Case studies are presented describing the experience of the Puget Sound (Washington) Air Pollution Control Agency and the San Diego County (California) Air Pollution Control District in communicating the results of source-specific cancer risk assessments. Routine risk communication practices, rather than a specific case study, are presented for Maryland's Department of the Environment. The report is intended to be most useful to State and Local agencies just beginning to do quantitative cancer risk assessments, and seeking to benefit from the risk communication experience of others.
