This course, which is presented in cooperation with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Office of Chemical Emergency Preparedness Planning, introduces safety auditing for highly hazardous chemicals. It is based on EPA's Chemical Safety Audit program, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) Process Safety Management (29 CFR 1910.119), and EPA's Risk Management Programs for Chemical Accidental Release Prevention (40 CFR Part 68-as proposed). The Course covers basic chemical systems and processes, chemical process hazards, process safety systems, process safety management, emergency response, chemical hazard mitigation, chemical hazard evaluation, hazard evaluation techniques, and incident (hazards material release) investigation. Interviewing techniques, computer modeling, and report writing are also covered.
