Abstract |
The objective of the study was to evaluate the ability of the distillation, titrimetric, and colorimetric procedures offered in Standard Methods to quantitatively measure both simple and complex cyanides in water. In the study each participant was shipped three concentrated solutions in sterile, sealed, glass ampoules. On receipt they were instructed to dilute 5 ml of each sample to 1 liter with a good qaulity distilled water and to analyze each sample to 1 liter with a good quality distilled water and to analyze each sample by each of two standard methods, copies of which were provided. In view of the drinking water limitation of 0.01 mg per liter of cyanide, these results indicate the need for an improved method. |
