Abstract |
Mathematical models were developed for theoretical analysis of the unsteady fluid motion in an unconfined homogeneous, isotropic aquifer subject to local recharge. The models apply to one- and two-dimensional analysis of the flow problems within the saturated zone. Numerical solutions were obtained for the outflow hydrograph and the temporal variation of the free surface for the one-dimensional case. For the two-dimensional analysis, the temporal and spatial variations of flow patterns were also attained. These numerical results were compared with the experimental data from a Hele-Shaw model.
