Abstract |
The workshop was organized into small working sessions, each dealing with a particular aspect of barrier containment technologies, to provide opportunity for the invited participants to share information, exchange opinions, and achieve consensus on what was known, what was not known, and what was needed concerning the application of containment technologies in remediation. The working sessions dealt with a range of topics, including: design and construction of vertical barrier walls (including sheet piles), barrier floors (indigenous and artificial), caps, geomembrane applications, barrier materials (soil-based and chemical-based), permeable reactive barriers, contaminant transport modeling, performance monitoring, and emplacement verification. The publication contains the edited summary reports for each working session. |
