Abstract |
The study provides an extension of the theory of demand, with specific application to collection and disposal services for household solid waste. The empirical investigation involving several socioeconomic variables (income, race, household size) repeated the analysis of an earlier study, using more recent (1970) Census data. The current findings supported the earlier results indicating a strong positive effect and a seasonal pattern for waste volume and income elasticity. There was less evidence of racial influence and household size on the quantity of solid waste for municipal collection and disposal. |
