RFA: Targeted Research Center (2004) Recipients Lists
Research Category: Hazardous Waste/Remediation , Targeted Research

Objective:

The goal was to develop a manuscript that summarizes the performance parameters and limitations of the OVM that would be submitted for publication to a suitable scientific journal (e.g., Environmental Science and Technology, J. of Exposure Analysis and Environmental Epidemiology, Atmospheric Environment).

Project Background:

The purpose of this project was to perform a critical review of the literature for performance evaluation of the 3M-Organic Vapor Monitor for sampling ppb-level concentrations of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) typical of community outdoor and indoor air and of personal inhalation exposures.

Progress Summary:

On December 31, 2006, the NUATRC received a draft manuscript for the project that includes both description of the performance characteristics of the OVM and description of the application of the OVM in exposure studies. The paper was reviewed by the SAP subgroup. They thought that it was in good shape, but had some organizational suggestions and some suggestions related to areas that could be expanded. These comments were provided to Dr. Morandi, with a recommendation that the manuscript be revised and submitted to a journal by April 2007.

Despite our numerous inquiries about the manuscript, the PI has indicated that she has not yet completed the revisions. Final payment will be made after submission of the manuscript for publication.
