Objective:

The overall goal of this research project is to enhance environmental research by giving young scientists an opportunity to become part of a state-wide team. The Kansas U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPA EPSCoR) will increase Kansas' competitiveness. The specific objectives of this research project are to: (1) establish interdisciplinary and interinstitutional research groups; (2) mentor junior faculty; (3) increase funding opportunities; (4) enhance communication and exchange of ideas between the participating universities; and (5) change research emphasis from small grants to large projects.
