Because they respond to basic changes in landscape and habitat condition, birds can be good indicators of watershed health. Birds are also well-studied and very popular with the public. Many of this module's photos and graphics were provided courtesy of the American Bird Conservancy's Exit EPA Disclaimer magazine Bird Conservation.
