Beck*, F P., P J. Clark*, R Ford*, AND A. Fisher. SUMMARY OF TECNIQUES AND UNIQUE USES FOR DIRECT PUSH METHODS IN SITE CHARACTERIZATION ON CONTAMINATED FIELD SITES. Presented at Bac-Min 2004 Conference, Bendigo, Austrialia, 11/08-10/2004.

Description:

At many of the sites where we have been asked to assist in site characterization, we have discovered severe discrepancies that new technologies may be able to prevent. This presentation is designed to illustrate these new technologies or unique uses of existing technology and the resulting benefits of these methods.
The methods discussed will include the use of multilevel samplers to define the subsurface environment and contamination; the use of a conductivity probe to characterize not only the soil subsurface, but also a contaminated pond; multilevel samplers that monitor a lake and the soil beneath the lake. It also discusses the use of macro-scale mapping to redirect the researcher to use more extensive site characterization methods in specialized areas.
