Citation:
Munch, J W. METHOD 528. DETERMINATION OF PHENOLS IN DRINKING WATER BY SOLID PHASE EXTRACTION AND CAPILLARY COLUMN GAS CHROMATOGRAPHY/MASS SPECTROMETRY (GC/MS). U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Washington, DC, EPA/815/R-00/014, 2000.
Impact/Purpose:
Develop an analytical method for the analysis of phenols to better assess the occurrence of these compounds. The method should demonstrate good precision and accuracy, but be rugged enough and simple enough to be suitable for compliance monitoring if the need for regulation is determined. The critical target analytes are: 2-methyl phenol; 2,4-dichlorophenol; 2,4,6-trichlorophenol; and 2,4-dinitrophenol.
