Description:
ORD is participating in the development of an Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Special Report on "Land Use, Land Use Change and Forestry." Preparation of the Special Report was requested by the Conference of the Parties(COP) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC). The COP is currently engaged in providing the operational means to implement the Kyoto Agreement on greenhouse gases. The Special Report is designed to inform the COP of the amounts of carbon to be sequestered and released from "Kyoto forests" (forests undergoing afforestation, reforestation or deforestation in 1990 or later) in developed countries during the period 2008 to 2012.
