Description:
Verification testing of the Triton Systems, LLC Solid Bowl Centrifuge Model TS-5000 (TS-5000) was conducted at the Lake Wheeler Road Field Laboratory Swine Educational Unit in Raleigh, North Carolina. The TS-5000 was 48" in diameter and 30" deep, with a bowl capacity of 16 ft3. According to the manufacturer, the unit was capable of 1400 RPM. The TS-5000 was operated manually and fed approximately 2,500 gal of flushed swine waste three days per week over a four-week test period, at a nominal rate of 35 gpm. Samples of the influent, effluent, solids, and skimming liquids were collected and analyzed for parameters of interest, including solids, nutrients, metals, and pathogens, to complete a mass balance. Over the entire test period, 1,750 lb of dry solids were recovered by the TS-5000, representing 55% of the 3,200 lb of suspended solids in the influent. Operational observations were also made during the verification test and are included with the analytical results in the final report.
