Description:

A 2005 field design of tributary and open Lake Michigan sampling will be discussed for the first time at this Council meeting. The sample design is expected to aid in determining whether or not contaminant loads and open lake concentrations have decreased over the past 10 years since the Mass Balance Study was conducted. It is anticipated that the tributary loads will be examined to ensure that the most important rivers are sampled for each contaminant. Similarly, sample design for the open lake will be discussed to ensure that the location and numbers of samples, potentially can be used to confirm selected model predictions from the previous study.
