RADIOANALYTICAL AND MIXED WASTE ANALYTICAL SUPPORT FOR STATES, REGIONS, AND OTHER FEDERAL AGENCIES
Impact/Purpose:
The object of this activity is to provide analytical services to States, EPA Regions, and other Federal Agencies who request radiochemical or mixed waste analyses of various matrices or technical support in managing problems with radiation.
Description:
Provide technical advice and support to Regions and other Federal Agencies on types of analyses, proper sampling, preservation, shipping procedures, and detection limits for samples for radionuclides and stable metals. Provide in-house data review and validation to ensure the quality of the data. Document results with electronic data reports and hard copy, when requested. Assist with planning special analytical projects for unusual matrices. Provide data review services for data produced by other laboratories. Serve as a QA laboratory for projects by receiving and analyzing a proportion of project samples for comparison with work produced by a commercial or other laboratory.
