Description:

The recently promulgated Arsenic rule will require that many new drinking water systems treat their water to remove arsenic. Many groundwaters that have arsenic in their source water also have iron in their water. As a result, arsenic treatment at these sites will most likely be accomplished by installing iron removal treatment or optimizing current iron removal treatment practices. This talk discusses arsenic treatment options and focuses on iron removal as a means of achieving arsenic removal. Ways to optimize and modify current iron removal practices to improve arsenic removal are addressed. Bench, pilot and full scale study results will be used to demonstrate objectives.
