Citation:

Kinsey*, J S. AND F. Anscombe*. CHARACTERIZATION OF MERCURY EMISSIONS AT A CHLOR-ALKALI PLANT: STUDY ORGANIZATION AND IMPLEMENTATION. Presented at AWMA-EPA Int. Symp. on the Measurement of Toxic and Related Air Pollutants, Research Triangle Park, NC, 9/12-14/00.

Description:

The paper describes the organization and implementation of a detailed emissions measurement campaign conducted over a 2-week period at the Olin Corporation's mercury chlor-alkali plant in Augusta, GA. (NOTE: Since data analysis is continuing, study results will be provided later). The purpose of the campaign was to identify and measure mercury (Hg) emissions from major sources within the facility, determine Hg concentrations at various locations and in multiple media, and characterize the air flow from the cell building. The research program was a collaborative effort between EPA's National Risk Management Research Laboratory, National Exposure Research Laboratory, Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance, and Regions 4 and 5; Oak Ridge National Laboratory; the University of Michigan; Olin Corporation; and the Chlorine Institute.
