Description:

One of the key elements of EMAP-West is to develop biological indicators of condition of the streams and rivers of the West. The development and use of Indicators of Biological Integrity (IBI) are described for the 12 western State in EMAP-West. A key addition to the early work on IBI's is the addition of invertebrates and periphyton to fish as biological populations of interest in estimating the condition of aquatic systems.
