Brown, P. AND J. Mycock. ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNOLOGY VERIFICATION REPORT - BAGHOUSE FILTRATION PRODUCTS - STANDARD FILTER CORPORATION PE16ZU FILTER SAMPLE. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Washington, DC, EPA/600/R-00/127, 2000.

Description:

Baghouse filtration products (BFPs) were evaluated by the Air Pollution Control Technology (APCT) pilot of the Environmental Technology Verification (ETV) Program. The performance factor verified was the mean outlet particle concentration for the filter fabric as a function of the size for particles equal to and smaller than 2.5 micrometers in aerodynamic diameter (PM2.5). The ETV APCT Pilot Program developed a generic verification protocol for testing baghouse filtration products that is based on a modified VDI Method 3926. The protocol was developed by RTI and ETS, reviewed by a technical panel of experts, and approved by EPA. The protocol addresses several isses that VDI Method 3926 does not cover, including periodic testing, acquisition of BFP samples for testing, and product definition. A Test/Quality Assurance Plan and a Standard Operating Procedure were prepared to address the test procedure and quality assurance and quality control requirements for obtaining verification data of sufficient quantity and quality to satisfy the data quality objectives.

ETS performed tests on Standard Filter Corporation's PE16ZU filter sample during the period of July 17-20, 2000. Mean outlet particle concentrations for total mass and PM2.5 were determined. In addition, the following verification parameters were measured and reported: residual pressure drop increase, average residual pressure drop, average filtration cycle time, and mass gain of the filter sample.
