THE PRESENCE OF ARSENIC IN DRINKING WATER DISTRIBUTION SOLIDS

Citation:

Lytle*, D A. THE PRESENCE OF ARSENIC IN DRINKING WATER DISTRIBUTION SOLIDS. Presented at Ohio Drinking Water Training Session, Columbus, OH, 10/16/2002.

Description:

The objective of this presentation was to determine whether solids found in drinking water distribution systems contain arsenic. Distribution system pipes and solids removed during hydrant flushing were collected from the distribution system of eight water utilities that had measurable levels of arsenic in their treated water and analyzed. Relationships between arsenic content and elemental composition, water chemistry, aqueous arsenic concentration and solid mineral phases were examined.
