The Research Needs Conference Proceedings consist of a description of the background for the project and a series of white papers on the topics of integrated risk assessment/management for decentralized wastewater systems, design and performance of onsite soil adsorption systems, fate and transport of pathogens, nutrient contamination, and economics. Each white paper consisted of an assessment of the state-of-the-art on the topic by a recognized expert or experts in each area, along with an assessment of the research needs (gaps) for each at the micro (site) and macro (watershed) levels. Other experts provided comments on the white papers and additional issues.
