Description:
The use of the moving-belt liquid chromatographic interface in combination with mass spectrometry was evaluated for determining detection limits of selected members of various chemical classes. mong the chemical classes examined were benzidines, nitrosoamines, anilines, nitroaromatics, dinitroaromatics, hydrazines, amides, phenylenediamines, organophosphites, acrylates, pyridines, phthalates, nitrophenols, halogenated triazines, pesticides, halogenated pyridines, and alkyl tins. elective ion monitoring was used for detection in all cases in view of the lack of sensitivity in the full-scan mode. he lower limit of detection for the technique was approximately 10 ng for some selected compounds. ompounds of molecular weight exceeding 250 amu generally show a diminished response due to a lack of volatility. ower molecular weight compounds within given groups exhibit similar behavior, presumably because of volatilization losses experienced during solvent removal in the detector inlet.
