Description:

This data set is a Geographic Information System (GIS) coverage of the land use and land cover for the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) Mid-Atlantic Integrated Assessment (MAIA) Project region. The coverage was produced using 1988, 1989, 1991,1992, and 1993 Earth Resource Observation System (EROS) Landsat Thematic Mapper (TM) data. In addition, US Census data for population and housing density, US Geological Survey land use and land cover data, National Wetland Inventory data were used as additional layers for data classification. The detailed descriptions of specific land coverage and use classes are available in the associated text file (ERDAS.TXT). In addition, data use/constraints are listed for each individual region as Caveats and Concerns in ERDAS.TXT
