Matheny, R. INTERFACING SAS TO ORACLE IN THE UNIX ENVIRONMENT. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Washington, D.C., EPA/600/A-94/250 (NTIS PB95155115).

Description:

SAS is an EPA standard data and statistical analysis software package while ORACLE is EPA's standard data base management system software package. RACLE has the advantage over SAS in data retrieval and storage capabilities but has limited data and statistical analysis capability. AS, on the other hand, is inefficient for data retrieval and storage of data but contains almost every conceivable statistical procedure. hus, linking SAS with ORACLE offers the advantages of both packages and eliminates the major disadvantages associated with each package. This paper discusses how the SAS procedures can be used on the UNIX platform .to link the SAS system with the ORACLE system. nstead of producing new SAS datasets from ORACLE tables, this approach reads ORACLE data directly and uses it as if they were SAS data. This paper has been reviewed in accordance with the United States Environmental Protection Agency's peer and administrative review policies and approved for presentation and publication. ention of trade names or commercial products does not constitute endorsement or recommendation for use.
