Description:
This project was initiated with the overall objective of developing organized information pertaining to the costs of various sewage sludge transport systems. Transport of liquid and dewatered sludge by truck and rail and liquid sludge by barge and pipeline is included. The report contains the method used in preparing the cost data and the data is organized to facilitate manual calculation of total transport costs for a variety of conditions. The data includes the installed cost for each system, sludge processing requirements, fuel consumption, manpower, and other operation and maintenance requirements. Loading, unloading, and sludge handling facilities construction costs and operation and maintenance requirements are tabulated separately from the requirements for direct hauling so the data can be applied to a variety of specific applications. Results of the study are related in tabular and graphical presentations to appropriate single haul parameters; cubic yards for dewatered sludge and gallon for liquid sludge.
