Stable Isotopes in Coastal Marine Systems (Two virtual field trips)

Citation:

Oczkowski, A. Stable Isotopes in Coastal Marine Systems (Two virtual field trips). Lecture - Marine Biogeochemical Cycles class at Boston University, Narragansett (Virtual meeting), RI, April 09, 2024.

Impact/Purpose:

This presentation is an invited lecture to a Marine Biogeochemical Cycles class at Boston University. The purpose of the talk is to give the students two clear examples of how stable isotopes of nitrogen, carbon, and sulfur can be useful in addressing coastal ecological problems associated with nutrient cycling.

Description:

This class lecture gives two examples of how stable isotopes can be used to better understand nutrient dynamics in coastal marine systems. I give examples from my dissertation research on Egypt's Nile Delta and from our ongoing work in the San Juan Bay Ecosystem in Puerto Rico.
